A nonprofit in New York City is seeking a Bilingual Spanish Outreach Specialist to join their team. The Outreach Coordinator will support a SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) outreach initiative focused on increasing enrollment among underserved communities. This role is highly community-facing, requiring regular travel to outreach events and strong communication skills, particularly in Spanish.

Job Function:

  • Schedule:  Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Friday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
  • Work structure: 3 days per week in the field (community outreach)| 2 days per week in the office (administrative work, follow-ups, documentation).
  • Travel: Primarily based in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Travel required across all five boroughs as needed. Typically one event/site per day. Transportation (e.g., MetroCard) provided when multiple locations are scheduled in the same day
  • Conduct community outreach at events such as:

    • Community centers
    • Consulates
    • Health fairs
    • Other local outreach events
  • Educate individuals on SNAP eligibility, benefits, and enrollment process

  • Provide guidance and assist community members with pre-screening and applications

  • Deliver presentations (in-person and occasionally virtual)

  • Build relationships with community partners and event hosts

  • Track outreach activities, interactions, and outcomes

  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records (e.g., Salesforce or internal systems)

  • Collaborate with internal team to ensure effective outreach coverage and follow-up


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
  • Required: Experience in community outreach, social services, or similar client-facing roles
  • Preferred: Background in healthcare centers, nonprofits, or social work
  • Fluency in Spanish (required) – must be comfortable presenting and engaging directly with Spanish-speaking communities
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfort working in diverse community settings
  • Ability to present information clearly and empathetically
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail for tracking/reporting
  • Ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively with a team
  • SNAP program training will be provided for candidates who do not have prior experience with benefits enrollment
