WCS Healthcare is  seeking  a  skilled  and patient‑focused  Medical  Assistant  to support physicians  and clinical staff  at  a  leading NYC hospital. This role combines clinical responsibilities with essential  administrative tasks to ensure efficient patient flow  and high‑quality care

Compensation : $16.94 - $21.94

Job Function:

  • Shifts: 5x7 Days (37.50 hours) | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Provides support to physicians  and other clinical staff.    
  • Places patients in the examination rooms  and documents medications, vitals,  and main reason for the visit using EMR. Performs screening  and measuring procedures, which include but is not limited to, height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature.  
  • Assists with setting up  and preparing the patient  and equipment for exams  and special procedures  as needed.    
  • Performs routine laboratory tests. Enters proposed orders into EMR for licensed independent provider review  and  approval. Obtains previous test results from outside labs, radiology, physicians’ offices, etc.  
  • Collects blood or other laboratory specimens  as requested by physician.    
  • Prepare  and  administer some medications  as  directed    
  • Performs routine clinical  and clerical work.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, plus the successful completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.

  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved school is required.

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential is preferred.

  • BLS Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.

  • Core Technical Skills: Proficient in Venipuncture/Phlebotomy, EKG administration, Point of Care Testing (POCT), Specimen Collection, and taking Vital Signs.

  • General Skills:

    • Proficient in medical terminology and strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines.

    • Basic computer skills (MS Office Suite).

    • Excellent telephone etiquette and strong interpersonal communication skills.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients.

    • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or billing systems is preferred (but not required).
